SightMill: Do you support custom domain names?

Do you support custom domain names?

Yes, you can email surveys from your own email address or your own domain name.

If you decide to send from your own domain name, we recommend that you setup SPF on your domain name records to avoid your surveys being classed as spam. Read more

To start using your own domain name, access the settings in the Email Design menu option. There are two important settings when sending emails surveys:
- first is the reply-to email address (this is the email address that is used if a recipient clicks on reply within their email software, eg Outlook)
- second is the address that is sending the email (this is the email address that sends the email out and is normally the same as reply-to, but does not need to be the same; if you are using bulk email software, this is often the address of the bulk email software product).

By default, our surveys have a reply-to email address that is set to your account email address (that you used to setup your SightMill account) and are sent from the email address no-reply@sightmill.com but you can easily change this with two options:
  1. Change the ‘reply-to’ email address: this will ensure that anyone who wants to reply to your survey and clicks the reply button in their email software will automatically route to the address your specify. We suggest you change this to an email address you monitor (for example help@my-company.com). Note that your surveys
  2. Change the ‘sent-from’ email address: this will change the email address that your survey is sent from. This means a recipient will see your survey as having been sent from my-address@my-company.com – note that this will sometimes trigger spam filters since SightMill is sending on behalf of your domain name. If you want to ensure there’s no risk your surveys will end up in a spam folder, then do not change this setting.
To make these changes, log in to your dashboard, open the Settings menu of a Project and open the Email Design menu. You will see the fields at the top of the screen let you enter a subject line for your email survey and the reply-to and sent-from addresses to over-ride no-reply@sightmill.com
